Adorable new Mimikyu room light asks you to squeeze it when it feels lonely

An adorable new, interactive light has been announced by the toy manufacturer Takara Tomy, themed around the popular Pokémon Mimikyu.
The new “Puni-Kyun Light – Mimikyu” is part of the wider “Poké-peace” merchandise line.

“Poké-peace” is a spin-off brand that features Pokémon living a peaceful “piece” of life in a share house.
This new light is a soft, “puni puni” (squishy) replica of the lonely Ghost-type Pokémon.

It features two different interactive modes that are activated by squeezing the light.
The first is a standard “Light Mode,” where squeezing the light will cycle it through three different brightness levels.

The second is the “Puni Puni Mode,” where the light will only turn on while you are actively squeezing it and will turn off when you let go.
If the light is left alone for a while in “Puni Puni Mode,” it will start to blink, as if it is “begging” for more squeezes.

This new light is the second major Mimikyu collectible to be announced for October.
The Pokémon Company has also announced a “Sonomama Mimikyu Plush Toy,” which translates to “Just As It Is Mimikyu.”

This separate collectible is a high-quality, 1:1 scale replica of the Pokémon as it appears in the games, faithfully matching its official height of 20cm and its official weight of 700g (approx. 1.54 lbs).

The “Sonomama Mimikyu Plush Toy” is priced at ¥5,940 (approx. $40 USD / £32 GBP) and is scheduled to be released at Pokémon Centers on Thursday, the 23rd of October.
The “Puni-Kyun Light – Mimikyu” is priced at ¥3,520 (approx. $24 USD / £19 GBP).

A special, in-person pre-sale for the light will be held at the “Poké-peace POP UP STORE by VILLAGE VANGUARD” locations, starting on the 24th of October.
The general retail release for the light is scheduled for Saturday, the 1st of November, via the official Takara Tomy online store and select other retailers.
