What is the Tokyo 1-Day Ticket (Tokyo Free Ticket)?
The Tokyo 1-Day Ticket (Tokyo Free Ticket) offers unlimited travel on all JR trains, subways, streetcars and buses within Tokyo’s 23 wards.
This includes rapid and local trains on major routes such as the Yamanote Line as well as on all Tokyo Metro and Toei subway trains.

How much does it cost?
- 1-day pass:
- Adult: 1,600 yen
- Child: 800 yen
Child passes are only available for those between 6 and 11 years old.
Where can it be used?
- All JR East trains within Tokyo’s 23 wards.
- Tokyo Metro subway lines.
- Toei subway lines.
- Nippori-Toneri Liner.
- All Toei buses excluding late night and reserved seat buses.
- The Toden Arakawa Streetcar (Tokyo Sakura Tram)
Important information
- Valid for 1 calendar day (midnight to midnight).
- The age of a child is defined as the age on the date of purchase. A passport or other such document may be required to prove a child’s age.
- The pass cannot be used on any Shinkansen or limited express train.
- This pass cannot be used for travel outside of Tokyo’s 23 wards.
Where to buy
The pass can be purchased at any of the JR EAST reserved seat ticket vending machines located at a JR East station within Tokyo’s 23 wards.

How to use
Insert only your rail pass into the automatic ticket gate.
Make sure to pick up your rail pass after passing through the gate. The rail pass cannot be reissued even if it is lost or stolen etc.

Value
The pass offers great value for those making multiple trips by train, bus or subway in Tokyo on a single day.
Travel between stations in central Tokyo on JR East train lines can typically cost between 100 yen and 300 yen, depending on the distance between the stations, so the pass will typically start to save you money if you travel 4 or more times within central Tokyo.
If you use the subway or bus, you will likely find that the pass starts to offer savings after just a few journeys.
