What is the All Shikoku Rail Pass?

The All Shikoku Rail Pass is designed for foreign tourists and offers unlimited travel on trains operated by JR Shikoku and several private railway companies on the island of Shikoku.

This includes limited express trains, and local trains and some bus and ferry routes allowing for extensive travel across the entire island.

How much does it cost?

  • 3-day pass:
    • Adult: 12,000 yen
    • Child: 6,000 yen
  • 4-day pass:
    • Adult: 15,000 yen
    • Child: 7,500 yen
  • 5-day pass:
    • Adult: 17,000 yen
    • Child: 8,500 yen
  • 7-day pass:
    • Adult: 20,000 yen
    • Child: 10,000 yen

Child passes are only available for those between 6 and 11 years old.

Purchasing the pass in Japan or online via JR West will incur an extra 500 yen per adult pass and 250 yen per child pass.

Where can it be used?

It is valid for travel on JR Shikoku lines, Tosa Kuroshio Railway lines, Asa Kaigan Railway lines, Iyo Railway lines, Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad lines, and Tosaden Kotsu lines.

It also includes Shodoshima Ferry passage between Takamatsu and Tonosho and the Shodoshima Olive Bus line.

Important information

  • Seat reservations are possible for limited express trains and some other trains.
  • The pass is valid for foreign tourists only.
    • You must hold a passport issued by a country other than Japan.
    • You must reside outside Japan and are visiting Japan on a temporary visitor visa(*).
  • The age of a child is defined as the age on the date of purchase. A passport or other such document is required to prove a child’s age.

Valid Period

The rail pass is valid for 3, 4, 5 or 7 consecutive days depending on the pass that was purchased.

Where to buy

  • Purchase through online or offline travel agents outside of Japan.
  • Available at major railway stations and JR Shikoku Travel Service Center within the pass area.
  • If purchased outside Japan or online, the rail pass must be collected from one of the following stations or offices:
    • Takamatsu Station
    • Matsuyama Station
    • Tokushima Station
    • Kōchi Station
    • Kotohira Station
    • Any JR Shikoku Travel Service Center
    • JR Shikoku Tour Umeda branch (Osaka)
    • Nippon Travel Agency TiS Okayama
  • Also available for purchase on the official JR West website.
  • Passes purchase via JR West can only be collected from the following locations:

How to reserve seats

You can reserve seats on limited express trains at no extra cost by making seat reservations at a JR Shikoku “Midori no Madoguchi” (ticket office) or at a reserved seat ticket vending machine.

How to use

Present the front side of your ticket to the station employee at ticket gates or when asked on the train.

Value

This passes offers a convenient and cost-effective way to explore the island of Shikoku.

A regular one-way ticket on a limited express train between Matsuyama and Takamatsu can cost 7,090 yen with a reserved seat, so the pass can offer significant value for those looking to make a round trip.

Even more cost savings can be gained by using the pass for travel on local lines covered by the pass around your destination.

It can be beneficial to plan your journeys on trains included in the rail pass advance, as this will also help you to determine if you can match, or ideally exceed, the value of the pass with your intended travel.
