Tomba! Special Edition Launches on Nintendo Switch 2

Publisher Limited Run Games has announced that “Tomba! Special Edition” is now available for the Switch 2 console.
The game can be purchased via the Nintendo eShop for $19.99, bringing the legendary platforming masterpiece to the newest hardware generation.

The Switch 2 iteration represents a significant technical advancement over the previously released Switch version.
Fans can anticipate dramatically increased resolution, improved overall performance, and the integration of higher quality assets.

The port also includes a downsampled display mode, offering players an alternative visual experience.
“Tomba! Special Edition” is the definitive version of the original action game, which was first published in 1997 by Whoopee Camp.

This enhanced version joins the title’s existing availability across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, the original Switch, and PC via Steam, making the classic game widely accessible to a modern audience.
The game is a vibrant 2.5D action-platformer that has been praised for its unique blend of linear progression and nonlinear, Metroidvania-style exploration.

Players control the titular hero, Tomba, as he must leap, bite, and throw his way across a series of stunning landscapes on an urgent quest to overcome a deplorable cadre of nefarious pigs.
Throughout this side-scrolling adventure, players will explore ancient relics, discover fascinating characters, unlock thrilling quests, and unearth hidden treasures.

This special edition is packed with quality of life improvements designed to modernize the experience for contemporary players.
Key features include the ability to Save Anywhere, eliminating the reliance on fixed checkpoints, and a Rewind function, which allows players to instantly retry difficult challenges.

The game also includes a toggle for analog control, catering to modern player preferences for movement controls.
To honor the game’s legacy, the edition features a robust in-game museum.

This comprehensive archive is crammed with classic print advertisements, high-res original artwork, original packaging and manuals, and never-before-seen development documents.
The overall package is rounded out with a newly remastered soundtrack and an exclusive interview with the game’s creator, Tokuro Fujiwara.
