Tokyo’s Kanda Myojin Shrine to host Blue Exorcist special exhibition

Kanda Myojin Shrine’s Museum is preparing to open a special exhibition that merges historical artifacts with contemporary pop culture.
Titled “Kanda Myojin x Blue Exorcist: An Attempt to Explore Japanese Folklore and Gods Through Blue Exorcist,” this unique display will showcase a collaboration between the shrine’s historical archives and replicated original artwork from the Blue Exorcist series.

Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) is a popular Japanese manga and anime series that follows Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he is the son of Satan and enrolls in an exorcism cram school.
The series often incorporates elements of Japanese mythology and folklore, making this collaboration a natural fit for exploring these themes from a fresh perspective.

The key visual for the exhibition, which has been released, features the protagonist Rin Okumura holding his sword against the backdrop of Kanda Myojin’s iconic torii gate.
This visual has already generated considerable buzz online, with fans expressing their enthusiasm on social media platforms.

The exhibition aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to delve into Japanese folklore and the country’s diverse pantheon of gods through the lens of the popular fictional work.
It represents an innovative approach to cultural education, bridging traditional heritage with modern entertainment.

The special exhibition will be held at the Kanda Myojin Museum in Tokyo’s Akihabara district from Saturday, July 19th, 2025, to Sunday, August 31st, 2025.
The museum will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last admission at 3:45 PM.
The museum is typically closed during the New Year period.
