Tokyo Skytree to Host "First Sunrise Special" Viewing for 800 Guests

Tokyo Skytree will once again host its exclusive “First Sunrise Special” event, offering a limited number of guests the chance to welcome the new year from the observation deck of the world’s tallest tower.

The special event on Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be limited to 800 people, with main ticket sales beginning on a first-come, first-served basis on Monday, December 1st, 2025.

Event Overview

The special business hours for the “First Sunrise Special” will be from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM on New Year’s Day.

Guests with tickets will be granted entry between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM to watch the first sunrise of 2026 from the Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria.

For visitors not attending the special viewing, Tokyo Skytree will resume its normal business hours at 8:00 AM on January 1st to accommodate New Year’s shrine visits.

The tower will also operate on extended holiday hours from Saturday, December 27, 2025, to Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Organizers have noted that while the event will proceed regardless of weather, refunds will not be issued if the first sunrise is not visible due to poor visibility.

Ticket and Admission Details

Admission for the 800 guests will be sourced through several different sales channels.

Online First-Come, First-Served Sale (540 tickets)
- Sales Period: Monday, December 1, 2025 (12:00 PM) – Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (23:59 PM)
- Price: 9,000 yen (tax included)
- Includes: Admission to both the Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria, plus a 1,000 yen voucher for the “SKYTREE SHOP.”
- How to Buy: Tickets will be sold on the official Tokyo Skytree website, with sales also available on the English-language site for overseas visitors.
Official Hotel Packages (10 tickets)
- Packages at Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo and Asakusa Tobu Hotel will be available starting December 1st.
Lottery Giveaways (80 tickets)
- Tobu Department Store: 10 tickets will be available via a lottery for “New Year’s Dream Lucky Bags” (Application period: Dec 4).
- Tokyo Solamachi & Tobu Card: 50 tickets will be given away via a lottery campaign.
- Tokyo Mizumachi: 20 tickets will be given away via an official Instagram campaign (Application period: November 4 – November 18, 2025).
Travel Agency Packages (30+ tickets)
- JR Central Tours will offer a travel package (Shinkansen + accommodation + ticket) starting December 1st. Other travel agencies are also expected to sell packages.
