Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026

The Tokyo Anime Award Festival is set to return to the global hub of animation for a four day celebration of original animated works from across the globe.
The international event will take place at TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro and will highlight exceptional creativity and animation from a variety of backgrounds.
This year the competition is particularly competitive as four feature films were selected from thirty nine submissions representing thirty one countries and regions.
The short film category also saw a massive influx of entries with twenty three nominees chosen from nearly one thousand global submissions.
Attendees can look forward to seeing these acclaimed works on the big screen while the festival committee prepares to honor winners with the Grand Prize and the Award of Excellence.
Families and aspiring artists can participate in hands on animation workshops featuring activities like creating cut out characters and working with pipe cleaners.
