Thief: The Dark Project Remastered Revealed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC

Atari, Nightdive Studios, and Eidos Montreal officially announced Thief: The Dark Project Remastered on June 7, 2026.

The project revives the 1998 stealth classic for modern platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Nightdive Studios is leading the development to ensure the original tension and intelligence of the game are preserved while enhancing the experience for modern hardware.

This remastered edition includes all content from the original release, allowing players to return to the role of Garrett, the master thief, within the atmospheric city.

The announcement took place during the PC Gaming Show, highlighting Nightdive’s reputation for restoring out of print PC classics for new audiences.

Industry veterans at Eidos Montreal are collaborating on the revival to bring the foundational first person stealth title to current and next generation consoles.

Pre orders are expected to go live across digital storefronts such as Steam, PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Marketplace following the reveal.

While a specific release date for the remaster was not attached to the initial June 7, 2026 announcement, the project marks the first major franchise revisit for the series in several years.
