The original PlayStation is being turned into a giant plush for Japanese arcades

A new prize item has been announced by the Banpresto brand of Bandai Spirits, which transforms the original, iconic PlayStation console into a giant, fluffy plush toy.
The new product is the “Mecha Mofugutto Plush PlayStation,” which will join a series of popular large-scale, “super fluffy” prize plushies.

This new release is a huge, approximately 42-centimeter wide plush replica of the classic, 1994 PlayStation console.
The plush is designed to be both a faithful recreation of the hardware, with details such as the buttons and the controller ports, and a soft and cuddly cushion.

It is a perfect item for both relaxing with during a gaming session and as a unique, retro-themed piece of interior decor.
This new release is the latest in a recent wave of nostalgic, retro-themed merchandise celebrating the history of the PlayStation brand.

A recent “shokugan,” or “food toy,” collection, the “PlayStation / Miniature Charm with Biscuits,” featured miniature, replica charms of classic PlayStation hardware, which came with biscuits shaped like the controller buttons.

Another PlayStation-themed product, which is part of Bandai’s Gashapon range of capsule toys, will see the release of mini replicas of classic game packages from the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 eras, such as the Uncharted and The Last of Us series.

As a “prize item,” this new plush will not be available for direct purchase at retail stores.
It will be exclusively available to be won in crane games and other arcade machines.
The new “Mecha Mofugutto Plush ~PlayStation~” is scheduled to begin its rollout in amusement facilities/arcades across Japan from Thursday, the 9th of October.
