‘The Battle Cats’ kicks off high-speed “Sonic the Hedgehog” in-game event
Smartphone game ‘The Battle Cats’ has announced the launch of a limited-time collaboration event with SEGA’s iconic “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise.
The Battle Cats is a tower defense game known for its quirky art style and humorous character designs.
Players collect a vast array of bizarre and powerful cats to defend their base from waves of quirky enemies.
Since its initial release, the game has amassed a massive global player base and frequently held unique collaboration events that introduce characters and elements from other popular franchises.
SEGA’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” series first burst onto the gaming scene in 1991 and quickly became one of the most recognizable and enduring video game characters in history.
Known for its high speed platforming adventures, the Sonic series has seen numerous releases across various gaming consoles, with total sales (including full games and free-to-play titles) exceeding an astonishing 1.77 billion units.
This collaboration brings a selection of Sonic characters and themed content into the crazy world of The Battle Cats.

Collaboration-Exclusive Gacha
Players will have the opportunity to acquire collaboration-exclusive characters through a special “Sonic the Hedgehog” gacha.
Popular characters such as Sonic and Shadow will be available, offering fans a limited-time chance to add these speedsters to their Battle Cats roster.
Collaboration-Exclusive Stages
A series of special collaboration stages themed after the Sonic universe have been introduced. By clearing the “Green Hill Zone” stage based on Sonic’s iconic first level, players may even acquire the collaboration-exclusive rare character “Neko Sonic”.
Other collaboration stages will feature Sonic characters appearing as powerful enemies.
“Sonic Battle!” Ranking Event
The Neko Dojo’s “Ranking Room” will host a limited-time collaboration ranking event called “Sonic Battle!”
This skill-based challenge will feature numerous Sonic the Hedgehog characters as opponents, allowing players to test their tactical abilities and compete for high scores.
Collaboration Login Stamps
To reward consistent play, players who log in daily during the event period will receive one stamp per day.
Logging in for five days will grant players the collaboration-exclusive EX character “Neko Tails”, a cat-like rendition of Sonic’s loyal sidekick, Tails.
Limited-Time “Gamatoto Expedition” Event
During the collaboration, the character “Chao” from the Sonic series will appear in The Battle Cats’ “Gamatoto Expedition”.
This event will increase the amount of items players can acquire through the expedition feature, providing a boost to resource gathering.
The “Sonic the Hedgehog” and The Battle Cats collaboration offers a range of new content for the quirky tower defense strategy game.
The event is now live so fans of both franchises can participate in the limited-time event to collect exclusive characters, challenge new stages until it ends on Friday, June 6th at 10:59 AM JST.
