Styx: Blades of Greed Reveals Gameplay Details With Huge New Trailer

Publisher Nacon and developer Cyanide Studio have revealed an extensive nine-minute gameplay trailer for their upcoming stealth action sequel, Styx: Blades of Greed.
The new footage provides a deep dive into the refined mechanics and expanded scope of the anticipated follow-up.

Players once again assume the role of Styx, the cunning goblin anti-hero notorious for his mastery of stealth and caustic sense of humor.
This time, Styx sheds his role as an employee and pursues his own ambitious goal, leading a crew aboard his personal zeppelin.

Their primary target is Quartz, a newly introduced power source described as the most precious and dangerous resource in a world rapidly heading toward an all-out war between the factions of elves, humans, and orcs.
This particular adventure serves as a crucial point of lore, marking the beginning of the Great War and the formation of the Black Hand, the mercenary group central to the events in the franchise’s predecessor, Of Orcs and Men.

Styx: Blades of Greed refines the core stealth formula by placing freedom and player creativity at the forefront of the experience.
The developers position every encounter as a stealth puzzle that can be approached and solved in multiple ways.

The goblin’s toolkit is significantly expanded, building on established Amber skills like Cloning and Invisibility.
New to this entry are formidable abilities granted by the coveted Quartz, which allow Styx to master Mind Control and Time Shift.

Preparation is key, requiring players to craft various weapons and potions before executing their next scheme and evading the traps laid by the Inquisition.
Exploration is a major element of the game, which features three vast, open, and heavily vertical environments: The Wall, which demarcates the boundary of the human world; the verdant orc village of Turquoise Dawn; and the ancestral elven capital, the Ruins of Akenash.

To help players navigate these massive areas, new traversal tools have been added, including a glider, a grapple hook, and specialized claws for scaling walls.
This emphasis on verticality and new tools enables a Metroidvania-style progression system, as new abilities unlock previously unreachable sections of the expansive maps.
The game is slated for release on February 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Steam and Epic Games Store.
