Square Enix releases new album featuring guitar covers of music from Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and more
Square Enix has announced a new music album that features guitar covers of songs from some of their most famous games.
“Guitar Cover Collection from SQUARE ENIX MUSIC Channel” is the second release in a series based on the “Cover Series” of videos from the official SQUARE ENIX MUSIC YouTube channel.
The first album in the series, a “Piano Cover Collection,” was released in September of 2024.
This new installment features acoustic guitar arrangements of a wide range of popular songs from the company’s extensive and celebrated video game library.
The collection includes new arrangements of beloved tracks from legendary role-playing games, including Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy.
The full 15-song tracklist for the album is as follows:

- “Peaceful Days” / Chrono Trigger
- “City of Flickering Destruction” / Legend of Mana
- “Stars of Tears” / Xenogears

- “Besaid” / Final Fantasy X
- “Blinded by Light” / Final Fantasy XIII
- “The Seven Heroes Battle” / Romancing SaGa 2
- “Battle #5” / SaGa Frontier
- “Mißgestalt” / SaGa Frontier 2
- “Birds in the Sky, Fish in the River” / Live A Live
- “Song of the Ancients / Fate” / NieR Gestalt & Replicant
- “Weight of the World” / NieR:Automata
The new album is priced at ¥2,750 (approx. $19 USD/£14 GBP).
Pre-orders for the “Guitar Cover Collection” are currently open at the Square Enix e-STORE, Amazon, and other CD retailers.
The album is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, the 24th of September, 2025.
To celebrate the new release, a special livestream will be held on the SQUARE ENIX MUSIC Channel.
On the 20th of August, 2025, which is “Guitar Day,” the channel will host a marathon broadcast of its past guitar performance videos.
