Square Enix opens pre-orders for new Play Arts Shin figure of Final Fantasy IX’s Zidane

Square Enix has opened pre-orders for a new, high-end action figure of Zidane Tribal, the protagonist of the classic role-playing game Final Fantasy IX.
The figure is the latest entry in the company’s “PLAY ARTS Shin” line of premium, fully articulated figures.

This new version of Zidane has been developed with the latest technology to create a figure that perfectly balances a wide range of motion with a faithful recreation of his in-game appearance.

The “PLAY ARTS Shin” brand is positioned as the next evolution of the company’s figure-making, and this new Zidane incorporates several advanced features.

The figure is designed with new and improved hip and joint parts, which allow for a smooth and extensive range of articulation without compromising the character’s natural silhouette.

A key new gimmick for the line is the inclusion of individually movable eyeballs, which allows for subtle changes in the character’s expression and gaze.

The sculpt of the figure maintains the character’s signature stylized proportions while adding a high level of detail to his expressive face, his golden hair, the fur of his tail, and the textures of his clothing and boots.

The figure will come with a range of accessories to recreate various scenes from the game.

These include two of his “Mage Masher” daggers, which he can hold in either hand, a standard dagger that can be sheathed at his waist, and an alternate face plate for a different expression.

The “Final Fantasy IX PLAY ARTS Shin Zidane Tribal” is priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $179 USD/£134 GBP).
Pre-orders for the figure are currently open on the Square Enix e-STORE and it is scheduled to be released on the 28th of February, 2026.
