Square Enix announces “Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Lottery” – prizes include exclusive Vivi Plush and Chiptune Soundtrack CD
Square Enix is set to launch a special lottery to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX.
Prizes for the “FINAL FANTASY IX 25th Anniversary Commemorative Lottery” will include a sizable Vivi Ornitier plush, a new arrangement CD, and exclusive artwork.
Final Fantasy IX (FFIX) was originally released in Japan on July 7th, 2000, for the PlayStation console and is an incredibly popluar entry in Square Enix’s iconic Final Fantasy role-playing game series.
Known for its return to a more traditional high-fantasy setting after the sci-fi leaning of its predecessors, FFVII and FFVIII, FFIX garnered critical acclaim for its charming characters, intricate world-building, poignant story, and timeless art direction.
Characters like the melancholic Black Mage Vivi Ornitier, the honorable Zidane Tribal, and the steadfast Steiner have cemented their place in gaming history, making the game a fan favorite even two and a half decades later.
This commemorative lottery celebrates the game’s enduring legacy with a luxurious line-up of prizes designed to appeal to both long-time fans and new enthusiasts:
A Prize: Vivi Ornitier Plush Toy
This plush toy of the iconic Black Mage Vivi stands at a substantial 50cm in size.
Vivi’s journey of self-discovery made him one of the most memorable and beloved characters in the franchise.
B Prize: FINAL FANTASY IX -Chiptune Arrangement Tracks- CD
This unique prize offers newly arranged versions of classic FFIX songs in a chiptune style.
Tracks such as “Someday I’ll Return” (Melodies of Life) and “Song of Memories” (You’re Not Alone!) will be re-imagined, providing a fresh, retro-inspired take on the game’s celebrated soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu.
C Prize: Tissue Box Cover
A practical item that allows you to cover up a tissue box. It features FFIX artwork on the sides and three storage pockets with silhouettes of the main cast.

A common character lottery prize, winners will receive 1 of 9 different rubber keychains featuring an FFIX character.
“25th Prize” Canvas Art (Last One Prize)
Adding an extra layer of exclusivity, this prize will be awarded to the person who draws the very last ticket in a lottery batch.
They will receive a canvas art piece featuring a brand new 25th anniversary illustration by Toshiyuki Itahana.
This special illustration depicts all the main characters of Final Fantasy IX together, making it a highly desirable collector’s item for devoted fans.
Sales of the “FINAL FANTASY IX 25th Anniversary Commemorative Lottery” are scheduled to begin from July 7th, 2025, at various retail locations including Lawson convenience stores, bookstores, hobby shops, and official Square Enix stores across Japan, with each draw costing 770 yen (approx. $5.31 USD).
