SEGA confirms Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 for the Nintendo Switch 2

SEGA has announced that Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The announcement was made during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase broadcast held on Thursday, the 31st of July, 2025.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a full remake of the 2006 PlayStation 2 classic, Yakuza 2, rebuilt from the ground up for modern hardware.
This release marks the first time the acclaimed remake will be available on a Nintendo platform.
The story takes place in two iconic locations from the series, Kamurocho in Tokyo and Sotenbori in Osaka.

It depicts the intense conflict between the series protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, and Ryuji Goda, a formidable yakuza known as the “Dragon of Kansai.”

The game features a dynamic combat system where attack motions and reactions change based on the positions of the player and their enemies.

The new trailer also confirmed that the game’s numerous “Play Spot” mini-games, such as darts, karaoke, and golf, will be included.

In addition to Kiwami 2, it was also announced that the first remake, Yakuza Kiwami, will also be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day.
A trailer for this version showed that the resolution and framerate have been enhanced for the new hardware.

A digital bundle containing both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be made available for purchase.
A special discount will be offered to current players, as those who already own the digital version of Yakuza Kiwami on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to purchase the new Nintendo Switch 2 version at a reduced price.
Both Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are scheduled to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, the 13th of November, 2025.
