R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos Western Launch Set For June 18
Publisher NIS America has announced that the strategy RPG collection R-Type Tactics I and II Cosmos is scheduled to launch in Western markets on June 18, 2026.
The collection will be available on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
This release follows the initial Japanese launch of the title which took place on March 12, 2026.
Fans can currently pre-order a physical limited edition for $79.99 through the NIS America Online Store for PlayStation and Switch consoles.
This premium package features the Deluxe Edition of the game, a two-disc soundtrack, a conceptual art card set, and two specific acrylic stands depicting the Rwf-9A Arrow Head and Bwf-1Dα Bydo System α.
While various versions are moving forward, the publisher confirmed that previously planned limited and Deluxe editions for the Xbox Series X and S have been cancelled.
The collection marks a significant milestone for the franchise as it brings the original PSP titles to modern hardware with updated visuals.
Players will have the opportunity to experience R-Type Tactics II in English for the first time, featuring branching storylines and a new post-game narrative.
The gameplay focuses on tactical turn-based combat where users can command either the human Space Corps or the antagonistic Bydo Empire across hundreds of different ships and levels.
