Pre-orders open as pricing confirmed for new ‘Gundam GQuuuuuuX’ Zaku model kits
BANDAI SPIRITS has opened pre-orders and confirmed prices for two new High Grade (HG) 1/144 scale Gunpla model kits.
These new kits represent the iconic Zaku mobile suits as they appear in the latest Gundam anime, ‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX’.
The “HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)” and the “HG 1/144 Char’s Zaku (GQ)” Gunpla kits will allow fans to build accurate scale models of both the standard green Zaku and Char Aznable’s icnonic red Zaku.
The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is currently celebrating its 45th anniversary, which has seen the release of a large number of Gunpla model kits such as a huge 1/60 scale ν Gundam kit and re-releases from series such as Gundam Wing.
Initial information regarding these two new Zaku Gunpla kits, as well as new kits of the White Gundam, Wing Zero and others, was previously revealed as part of a special livestream celebrating 45 years of the Gundam franchise.
‘Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX’ represents a new chapter in the Gundam series as it take place in an alternate version of the series Universal Century setting.
The release of its mobile suits in Gunpla form allows fans to add the series’ fresh new takes on classic designs to their collection.
The Zaku, a mass-produced Mobile Suit of the Principality of Zeon from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, is arguably one of the most recognizable and enduring designs in the franchise’s history.
Its distinctive silhouette and role as the archetypal “grunt suit” have made it a fan favorite, leading to numerous variations across different Gundam series.
The “GQ” designation for these new kits indicates that they are from the GQuuuuuuX series, incorporating design elements unique to this new universe.
The “HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)” and “HG 1/144 Char’s Zaku (GQ)” kits are designed to offer both faithful recreation and dynamic posing capabilities.
The “HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)” reproduces the Principality of Zeon’s standard mass-produced Zaku as seen in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
The “HG 1/144 Char’s Zaku (GQ)” brings to life the signature red color scheme of the enigmatic ace pilot, a character who embodies the rival archetype in Gundam.
Both kits come equipped with a suite of newly sculpted but familiar Zaku weaponry.
This includes the classic Zaku Bazooka, the Zaku Machine Gun (a staple for rapid-fire engagements), and the close-combat Heat Hawk (a heat-bladed axe).
The inclusion of these iconic weapons allows builders to recreate a variety of action poses and battle scenes.
For dynamic action poses, the kits feature a movable mono-eye, a characteristic feature of Zeon mobile suits.
Additionally, the shoulder block can be moved independently, providing greater flexibility and range of motion for weapon posing and impactful stances.
To further enhance their authenticity, stickers are included, designed to recreate the specific markings and insignia seen on the mobile suits in the anime.
The “HG 1/144 Zaku (GQ)” is scheduled for release in November 2025 and the “HG 1/144 Char’s Zaku (GQ)” will follow a month later in December 2025.
Both Gunpla kits will be priced at an affordable at a price of 2,420 yen (approx. $16.71 USD / £12.35 GBP) each.
Pre-orders are currently open can be placed directly with most local hobby stores and specialist model kit retailers.
Given the enduring popularity of the Zaku and the iconic status of Char’s Mobile Suits, these kits are expected to be highly sought after by Gunpla enthusiasts.
