Pre-Orders Open as Bandai Fully Unveils the MGEX Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam
Image by Charlotte DavisPre-orders are now officially open for Bandai’s new MGEX 1/100 Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, with a complete set of product images and full details finally revealing what collectors can expect from the third release in the high-end Gunpla series.
The model kit was initially unveiled during Bandai’s recent “Latest! Gunpla Info Bureau” broadcast, but the newly published product information provides a considerably closer look at its gold finishes, internal frame, Proud Defender, weapons, and character-specific accessories.

MGEX sits at the upper end of the Master Grade range, with each release built around an individual “Extreme Point” that allows Bandai to concentrate its latest materials and construction techniques around one particular aspect of a mobile suit.

The first MGEX Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka centered on its illuminated Psycho-Frame in 2020, while the MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam followed in 2022 with an extensive combination of metallic treatments designed around the appearance of its gold internal frame.

Mighty Strike Freedom takes that approach in a different direction with “iridescent expression” as its main theme, placing particular emphasis on the way its gold components reflect and change under different lighting.

Bandai is introducing colored-plastic Mechanical Core Plating for the first time in Gunpla, adding another metallic treatment to the techniques already being used throughout the model.
Several types of gold plating and Extra Finish parts are joined by Real Metallic Gloss Injection, while both the secondary processing colors and molded gold components have been revised to create noticeable variation across the internal structure.

The result is intended to prevent the huge amount of gold across the Mighty Strike Freedom from appearing uniform, instead giving different areas their own shades and reflective qualities.
Much of the underlying construction is based on the MGEX Strike Freedom Gundam, which featured more frame-linked articulation mechanisms than any previous Master Grade at the time, although new parts have been created where necessary for the Mighty Strike Freedom.

The kit recreates the final configuration used by Kira Yamato in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, combining the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II with Lacus Clyne’s Proud Defender.
That immediately gives it a very different silhouette from the original Strike Freedom, replacing the familiar DRAGOON-heavy backpack arrangement with the Proud Defender’s huge white and gold wing system.
Bandai’s newly released images provide a much clearer look at the completed model with those wings fully spread, as well as the exposed gold structure and multiple metallic finishes visible throughout the body.

The forehead-mounted Disruptor can also be displayed in its deployed state using a replacement part, recreating one of the Mighty Strike Freedom’s most powerful weapons from the movie.
Its close-range arsenal includes the Futsunomitama anti-ship sword, while a Type 35 Kai Railgun is supplied alongside two Beam Rifles and two Beam Sabers.
The Beam Rifles and Beam Sabers give the model the familiar weapons associated with the Strike Freedom, while the Futsunomitama and Disruptor provide some of the most recognizable additions from its final SEED Freedom configuration.

A Beam Shield effect is included for the arm, together with interchangeable hands and a dedicated display base for supporting the large completed model and its Proud Defender.
Bandai has also placed unusual emphasis on Kira and Lacus within the accessory selection, including figures that allow several scenes associated with the Mighty Strike Freedom to be represented alongside the mobile suit itself.

Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne can both be positioned inside the cockpit, while a separate Lacus figure can be placed aboard the Proud Defender.
Another standing Lacus Clyne figure is included specifically so she can be positioned on the Mighty Strike Freedom’s chest, recreating one of the memorable images from the closing stages of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom.

The complete package includes the Futsunomitama, Type 35 Kai Railgun, two Beam Rifles, two Beam Sabers, deployed Disruptor part, Beam Shield effect, character figures, interchangeable hands, display base and a set of stickers.
The full reveal arrives amid a large run of Gundam announcements from Bandai, with the recent “Latest! Gunpla Info Bureau” also introducing the RG Ground Type Gundam, HG Hamma-Hamma, MGSD 00 Raiser and a new PG UNLEASHED Nu Gundam expansion.

Bandai has additionally shown painted prototypes of the HG Gundam ZERO and Gundam Helix, while its completed figure division has now fully introduced the new ABSOLUTE ACT line beginning with Strike Freedom Gundam.
