Pre-Orders for Touhou: Blossom Blade Remaster Announced
The remastered 3D bullet-hell action game, Touhou: Blossom Blade, is officially set to launch on Tuesday, January 22, for both the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
The title, which will be published on Switch by Phoenixx, will be available for the price of $6.99.
Pre-orders for the title are scheduled to open on Monday, January 15.
Touhou: Blossom Blade is a new edition of doujin circle Ankake Spa’s original game, Youyou Kengeki Musou, which first launched on December 30, 2011.
Ankake Spa, the original developer, was also responsible for Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity, a popular entry in the Touhou series.
The original Youyou Kengeki Musou introduced character models and stage assets that were later reused in Scarlet Curiosity, and the remaster aims to deliver a newly powered-up version of this earlier game to players.
This remastered release introduces numerous improvements over the original game.
Key enhancements include significantly improved graphics, refined control schemes, new difficulty options to welcome all players, and the addition of English localization.
The game is set in Gensokyo and centers on Konpaku Youmu, who acts as the gardener, security, and swordsmanship instructor for Saigyouji Yuyuko, the mistress of Hakugyokurou.
The story begins when Yuyuko, after being chastised by Youmu for slacking off, challenges her instructor.
To prove her skill, Youmu must defeat Hakurei Reimu, the powerful shrine maiden credited with resolving countless incidents throughout Gensokyo.
