Platinum Games, studio behind Bayonetta and Nier:Automata, warns of phishing scam

Japanese video game developer PlatinumGames has issued a public warning about suspicious emails that are being sent out impersonating the company.

The alert was posted to the company’s official blog and social media accounts on Wednesday, the 30th of July, 2025.

PlatinumGames is a highly respected studio in the video game industry, known for developing a long line of critically praised and stylish action games, including the Bayonetta series and Nier:Automata.

The company stated that it has confirmed instances of fraudulent emails being sent to individuals that are disguised as official job recruitment offers from the studio.

These messages are a potential phishing scam or a precursor to other criminal activities.

PlatinumGames has explicitly stated that these emails are “in no way related” to the company.

They are strongly advising the public not to trust any of the contact information or instructions provided in these fraudulent messages.

To prevent potential harm, the company recommends that anyone who receives such an email should not reply to it.

They also advise against clicking any links or opening any attachments contained within the suspicious email.

Platinum Games has also warned individuals not to enter any personal information into forms or surveys that may be linked.

The studio clarified that it never sends unsolicited job offers directly to individuals without prior contact.

All legitimate recruitment is conducted through the company’s official careers website.
