Orders Open as Bandai Unveils New and Improved Strike Freedom GUNDAM UNIVERSE Figure

Bandai has officially unveiled a completely redesigned GUNDAM UNIVERSE Strike Freedom Gundam, giving one of the most iconic mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY a fresh look alongside major articulation upgrades for the long-running action figure line.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY originally aired in 2004 as the sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, following a new conflict between ZAFT and the Earth Alliance while continuing the story of returning characters including Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala and Lacus Clyne.

Although Strike Freedom Gundam first joined the GUNDAM UNIVERSE lineup in 2023, this updated version has been rebuilt from the ground up and becomes one of the latest figures to benefit from the line’s new UNIVERSAL REACTION FRAME introduced in 2025.

The redesigned internal frame significantly expands the figure’s range of movement, making it easier to recreate the dramatic aerial combat poses and signature attack sequences seen throughout the anime.

The updated sculpt also gives Strike Freedom a noticeably sharper appearance, with refined armor proportions, cleaner panel detailing and a more imposing silhouette that better captures the mobile suit’s on-screen appearance.

As Kira Yamato’s ultimate mobile suit, the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam is powered by the Hyper Deuterion Engine and combines overwhelming mobility with an arsenal of devastating beam weaponry.

Its most recognizable feature is the Super DRAGOON Mobile Weapon Wing system, whose eight remotely controlled Beam Assault Cannons allow Kira to engage multiple opponents at once while maintaining incredible precision thanks to his abilities as a Super Coordinator.

The figure includes two High-Energy Beam Rifles, two Beam Sabers, multiple interchangeable hands and deployable Xiphias 3 Railguns mounted around the waist, allowing collectors to recreate both ranged combat and dual-saber action scenes.

While the refreshed release introduces several welcome improvements, it does not include combined beam rifle or beam saber configurations, and the DRAGOON Beam Assault Cannons remain fixed to the backpack rather than being removable for display.

Priced at ¥4,400 (approx. $30 USD/£22 GBP), the GUNDAM UNIVERSE Strike Freedom Gundam Renewal is now available to pre-order from reputable hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan, with the figure currently scheduled for release in December 2026.
