New Statues of Evangelion’s Rei and Asuka Bring Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s Art to Life

Good Smile Company has opened pre-orders for two stunning new collectibles based on the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series.
The Asuka Shikinami Langley and Rei Ayanami 1/7 scale figures are based on original illustrations by the renowned artist Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a landmark franchise that redefined the mecha genre with its psychological depth, intricate world-building, and religious symbolism.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto served as the character designer for the original anime and the manga artist for its adaptation, known globally for his delicate and expressive style.

The Rebuild of Evangelion film tetralogy retold the classic story with updated visuals and a divergent plot that continues to resonate with fans worldwide.

These new releases aim to capture the specific atmosphere of Sadamoto’s artwork by translating his 2D lines into a tangible 3D form.

Both characters are depicted in their signature plugsuits, with careful attention paid to the organic body lines and the subtle details of their fingertips.

The sculptors have focused on recreating the unique aesthetic of the original drawings, ensuring the figures look impressive from a 360-degree viewing angle.

Asuka is sculpted in a dignified pose that highlights her confident and cool personality.

Her design features hair that appears to be blowing in the wind, adding a sense of dynamic motion to the figure, which stands at approximately 23.5cm in height.

Rei is presented with a quiet demeanor and a silent expression that reflects her mysterious and reserved character.

Her figure captures a sense of stillness and utilizes magnetic parts within the construction to assist with assembly and display.

She stands slightly shorter than her counterpart at approximately 20.5cm in height.
Both items are constructed from painted plastic and come with dedicated display stands included in the packaging.

Both figures are priced at 18,600 yen (approx. $124 USD / £98 GBP) each.
Pre-orders officially opened on Monday, February 16, 2026, and will remain available until Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

These items are available through the Good Smile Company Online Shop and various partner retailers, such as HobbyLink Japan.
Shipping for both figures is currently scheduled to begin in March 2027.
