New Rurouni Kenshin kitchen knife is a replica of Himura’s “Reverse-Blade Sword”

A new, high-end kitchen knife has been announced by the character collaboration brand GARRACK, which is themed around the iconic “Sakabatō” (reverse-blade sword) from the popular anime series, Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story.
The new product is a “gyuto” (chef’s knife) that has been designed to look just like the signature weapon of the protagonist, Kenshin Himura.

The blade features a matte black, fluorine-coated finish with a fake “hamon” (temper line) along its spine, which gives it the appearance of a “reverse-blade” sword.

For practical, everyday use, the actual, sharp cutting edge is on the normal, bottom side of the blade.
The knife is a collaboration with the “NiNJA” kitchen knife brand and is being produced in the famous city of Seki, in Gifu Prefecture.

Seki is one of the world’s most renowned blade-making centers, with a history of traditional Japanese sword production that dates back to the Kamakura period.
The knife is crafted by local artisans using modern, high-end techniques.

The blade is made from molybdenum vanadium steel, a high-quality material known for its rust resistance and its ability to hold a sharp edge.
It is “vacuum hardened” for superior durability and is hand-sharpened by skilled craftsmen.

To celebrate the launch, a special gift-with-purchase campaign is also being held.
Customers who purchase the knife will receive a free cutting board as a gift, while supplies last.

The cutting board is designed to make you feel as if you are “unleashing the Kuzu-ryūsen” (Nine-Headed Dragon Flash) on your ingredients.

The “Rurouni Kenshin x Seki City Knife – Sakabatō Kitchen Knife – Gyuto” is priced at ¥19,800 (approx. $135 USD / £107 GBP).

Pre-orders for the new knife are scheduled to begin on Monday, the 20th of October, via the official GARRACK online store.
The general release is scheduled for Friday, the 24th of October.
