New nori sheets let you make your own Osaka Expo themed bento

Myakumyaku, the much maligned mascot of the Osaka-Kansai Expo who has split public opinion as to whether it is cute or downright creepy, will now be able to haunt (or charm) you at mealtimes.
Shozen Honten, a food manufacturer specializing in seaweed products, has announced the upcoming release of “Cut Nori Myakumyaku”, a nori seaweed product that has received official licensing from the highly anticipated Osaka-Kansai Expo.

“Cut Nori” represents an innovative approach to processed nori, featuring intricate illustrations and characters precisely drawn onto the seaweed sheets through the utilization of advanced laser cutting technology.
This meticulous process not only creates visually appealing designs but also incorporates perforations within the nori, enabling users to easily separate individual portions by hand, eliminating the need for any additional tools such as scissors or knives.

This officially licensed “Cut Nori Myakumyaku” product allows consumers to infuse their everyday meals with the creepy-cute presence of Myakumyaku-kun, the official mascot of the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Each package contains a total of 14 sheets of designed nori seaweed, which will feature two distinct designs: the recognizable likeness of Myakumyaku, the official mascot of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and a classic star motif.
A single pack of “Cut Nori Myakumyaku” will set you back 300 yen (excluding tax), with the price set deliberately at an affordable amount to make the officially licensed Expo product accessible to a wide range of consumers.
