New LINE stamps feature the coffee-loving Detective Pikachu
A new set of digital stamps for the messaging app LINE has been released, featuring the world of Detective Pikachu.
This release allows users to add a different version of the famous Pokémon to their chats, based on the coffee-drinking, gruff-talking detective persona.
The Detective Pikachu sub-franchise presents a unique take on the Pokémon universe, focusing on mystery-solving in the bustling metropolis of Ryme City.
The new stamp set, titled “Detective Pikachu: Days in Ryme City”, contains a total of 24 individual illustrations.
The artwork for these stamps is sourced directly from a manga that was included in the official “Detective Pikachu: Ryme City Guide” book.
This particular manga was drawn by the artist Tomoaki Imakuni, who is more widely known by his stage name, “Imakuni?”.
“Imakuni?” is a long-time figure in the Pokémon community, having illustrated Pokémon TCG cards, performed music for the Pokémon anime and featured as an opponent in the Pokémon TCG Gameboy game.
He is credited with drawing the new LINE stamps as well, which carry his signature loose and expressive aesthetic.
The stamps depict the world-weary and slightly cynical version of Pikachu, which defines the character in the Detective Pikachu series.
In addition to the titular detective, the collection also includes appearances from other Pokémon.
The electric-type Manectric and the fire-type cat Litten are also featured in the set with cute, stylized designs.
These digital stickers are designed for use within the popular LINE messaging application, which is widely used in Japan and other parts of Asia for daily communication.
The “Detective Pikachu: Days in Ryme City” stamp collection is priced at 120 yen on the official LINE STORE, and the full set is available for purchase now.
