New Evangelion 30th anniversary fashion collection fuses anime with 90s style
Japanese fashion brand HARE has announced a new collaboration with the iconic anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
The new apparel collection is the second partnership between the two brands, following a previous collaboration in 2021, and is being released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the anime’s original 1995 broadcast.
HARE is a “mode” brand known for its sharp, modern designs that are often inspired by art and culture.
This new collection is designed to fuse the styles of the 90s, when the anime first aired, with elements of the Evangelion series, creating a lineup that appeals to both long-time fans and a new generation.
The collection features six different apparel items, each with a variety of design details inspired by the series.
All items in the collection also feature a custom, collaboration-exclusive name tag designed to look like the SDAT player used by Shinji Ikari:
The full HARE x Evangelion collection includes:
- EVA/Reversible Blouson: ¥24,200
A 90s-style track jacket with the unique feature of being reversible, with the inner lining printed with the episode titles from the original TV series.
- EVA/Collage Shirt: ¥13,750
A shirt featuring photo collages of key scenes of the characters Asuka or Rei.
- EVA/Gradation Shirt: ¥13,750
A shirt with a gradient color scheme representing the emotional changes of either Asuka or Rei, with their plugsuit number embroidered on the back.
- EVA/ATF Cardigan: ¥16,940
A knit cardigan with a large print of an A.T. Field being deployed, featuring custom-made A.T. Field-patterned buttons.
- EVA/Long-Sleeved T-Shirt: ¥9,900
A shirt with an embroidered icon on the chest and a character quote printed on the back.
- EVA/Hoodie: ¥16,940
An oversized zip hoodie with a front design inspired by the cut of a plugsuit and a line-art illustration on the back. A “secret” version will also be sold at select stores.
To celebrate the launch, special events and decorations will be held.
The HARE.JP flagship store will be “wrapped” in an Evangelion theme and will feature a special photo spot.
Other HARE locations will also have special displays, and all customers who purchase a collaboration item at any HARE store will receive an exclusive shopper bag and stickers.
The new collection is scheduled to be released on Friday, the 22nd of August, 2025, at all HARE stores and on the official “and ST” online store.
