Netflix Drops First Trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Netflix has unveiled a new teaser visual and the first trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, confirming that the anime will premiere exclusively on the platform in fall 2026.
The newly released artwork and trailer provide fans with their most detailed look yet at the upcoming series, introducing key characters while expanding anticipation for a fresh story set in Night City.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an original anime set in the universe of CD PROJEKT RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, which itself is based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop RPG series.
The first season, produced by Studio TRIGGER under CD PROJEKT RED’s supervision, debuted on Netflix in September 2022 and quickly gained widespread acclaim as one of the standout video game adaptations in recent years.

The sequel will present a completely new standalone story spanning 10 episodes, focusing on a raw narrative centered around redemption and revenge in a world driven by spectacle.
The official social media accounts for the anime have confirmed the names of the four central characters featured in the new visual as Weak Kingsley, Talia Yang, Roman Carax, and D.
The earlier teaser message stating “David is dead. But Night City lives on” reinforces that the new series will move beyond the events of the original story rather than continuing David Martinez’s journey.
The newly released trailer further emphasizes the darker tone of the sequel, hinting at the extreme lengths characters may go to in order to make their stories matter within the chaotic city.
The production team for the sequel includes Kai Ikarashi, who worked on the first series as a storyboard artist, animation director, animator, and prop designer, now making his directorial debut.

Bartosz Sztybor returns as both producer and writer, while Ichigo Kanno serves as lead character designer after contributing as an animation director and key animator on the original series.
Masahiko Otsuka is also returning to handle scriptwriting duties for the new installment.
Additional updates about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are expected during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, where a presentation is scheduled for July 4, 2026 (Japan time).

Outside of the anime, the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners franchise continues to expand with a prequel manga titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, created by artist Asano and writer Bartosz Sztybor, which launched in December and is being released in multiple languages including English through Dark Horse.

The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is also set to receive a complete Blu-ray release in North America on October 28, with additional home video releases planned for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is scheduled to stream exclusively on Netflix in fall 2026, with the newly released trailer and Anime Expo presentation marking the next major updates for the series.
