Limited edition Godzilla watch released to commemorate 70th anniversary

Godzilla Watch

A new limited-edition timepiece has been created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the original Godzilla film.

Created as part of a collaboration with Swiss manufacturer Fulton, the production of this watch is strictly limited to 1,954 pieces, a number chosen to honor the year the first movie was released.

The 1954 Godzilla film is a landmark in Japanese cinema, establishing the giant monster genre and serving as a powerful allegory for the nuclear anxieties of its era.

Its story, about a prehistoric creature awakened and mutated by atomic testing, was heavily influenced by real-world events like the Daigo Fukuryū Maru incident, where a Japanese fishing boat was contaminated by nuclear fallout.

The new “Godzilla Radio Solar Chronograph” incorporates numerous design elements that pay tribute to this cinematic legacy.

The watch’s body is a matte black, featuring a textured red pattern designed to evoke the cracked earth left in the wake of Godzilla’s destruction.

A blue second hand represents the monster’s iconic atomic heat beam.

Other details include a subtle claw mark etched at the twelve o’clock position and the official 70th-anniversary logo at the seven o’clock position.

The back of the watch case is engraved with a Godzilla footprint and a unique serial number for each of the 1,954 units.

The timepiece comes with two interchangeable straps that are designed to be easily swapped with an included tool.

One is a matte black stainless steel bracelet, while the other is a cowhide leather strap with red stitching, textured to resemble Godzilla’s rugged skin.

The watch is equipped with advanced timekeeping technology, receiving radio signals from Japan’s atomic clock transmitters for precise accuracy.

It also features a solar-powered system, allowing the battery to be charged by both sunlight and indoor lighting, which eliminates the need for regular battery replacements.

Each watch comes in a special presentation box embossed with the 70th-anniversary logo and includes a guarantee card styled after the original 1954 movie poster.
