Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties allows you to play as the villain Yoshitaka Mine

A new, original side story, or “gaiden,” has been announced for the popular Like a Dragon series, titled Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties.
The new game was revealed earlier today, Wednesday, the 24th of September, during the “RGG SUMMIT 2025” presentation from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.

This new title is a prequel story that focuses on the antagonist of Like a Dragon 3, the fan-favorite character Yoshitaka Mine.
The game will tell the dramatic story of his origins as the head of a successful venture capital firm and his descent into the world of the yakuza.

Players will be able to control Mine in a new, original story set in the district of Kamurocho.

The game will also feature side stories that will further develop his bond with his “aniki,” or sworn older brother, Tsuyoshi Kanda.

While this is a brand-new, standalone game, it will not be sold separately.
It is being released as part of a single, two-in-one package with the full remake of Like a Dragon: Kiwami 3.

Players will be able to choose which of the two different games they want to play from the main title screen.
This unique release format will allow fans to experience the full story of Like a Dragon 3 from the perspective of both the hero and the villain.

Like a Dragon: Kiwami 3 / Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties has been announced for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The two-in-one game is scheduled to be released on Thursday, the 12th of February, 2026.
