Kuromi celebrates her 20th anniversary with special afternoon tea event at one of Japan’s top hotels

Fans of Kuromi are in for a treat this summer as a special “KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party” will take place at one of Japan’s top hotels.

This unique event, which will be held at “The Westin Sendai,” invites guests to indulge in a selection of summer-themed sweets and savory delights, all infused with the signature mischievous charm of Kuromi.

The Westin Sendai, a luxurious hotel known for its elegant ambiance and stunning city views, is the ideal venue for this collaboration.

The event will be hosted at Restaurant Symphony, located on the hotel’s 26th floor, creating a stunning backdrop to play against Kuromi’s punk-rock aesthetic and rebellious personality.

The “KUROMI Afternoon Tea Party” will run on various dates from July to September 2025, offering different sessions for weekdays, weekends, and an exclusive evening experience to accommodate various preferences.

Weekday Afternoon Tea

The Weekday Kuromi Afternoon tea provides a classic Tea party experience with a range of carefully selected sweets and savory dishes served on a three-tiered tea stand.

Weekday Afternoon Tea sessions will run from July 22nd to September 26th, 2025 (excluding the September 23 holiday), between the hours of 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The menu includes Kuromi-themed sweets like marshmallows and tarts, alongside savory options such as Miyagi Forest Chicken Brochette and local Sendai “Zunda Mochi” sandwiches.

This option is the most budget friendly for anyone wanting to enjoy the experience, with a more streamlined menu and lighter dining experience.

Each booking is for 120 minutes and is priced at 5,500 yen for adults, 3,800 yen
for children between the ages of 7 – 12 and 2,800 yen for children aged 4-6 years old.

The afternoon tea will include 16 different types of drink to choose from including a selection of Ronnefeldt teas, JING tea and original blend coffee.

There is also the option of adding a special Kuromi themed drink for an extra 1,500 yen per adult.

Weekend Afternoon Tea

For an enhanced experience, the Weekend Afternoon Tea offering adds an indulgent A5-rank Miyagi Kurihara City Sendai roast beef and beef tongue platter, alongside an expanded buffet of additional savory dishes and desserts.

The Weekend option will take place from July 19th to September 21st, 2025 (including specific holidays), also from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Each booking is for 120 minutes and is priced at 7,500 yen for adults (9,000 yen with a Kuromi drink), 3,800 yen for children aged 7-12 years old and 2,800 yen for children aged 4-6 years old.

Drinks will include a variety of 16 types of drinks, including Ronnefeldt tea selection, JING tea and original blend coffee.

Evening Tea Party

For those preferring an evening setting, an exclusive Evening Tea Party is available on weekdays from July 22nd to September 26th, 2025 (including the September 23 holiday), from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

This experience is priced at 8,500 yen per adult and notably includes the premium Sendai beef roast as its main dish, complemented by a special Kuromi-themed drink.

Kuromi Themed Drinks

Two types of specially created Kuromi drinks will be available to order and each drink comes with a cute coaster featuring an original design which can be kept as a memento of your visit.

On weekdays, you can enjoy a refreshing carbonated drink with an eye-catching butterfly pea gradient (pictured left) and on weekends, you can enjoy a tropical smoothie based on pineapple and coconut milk (pictured right).

As a special commemorative gift for attending an afternoon or evening tea session, adult and child guests (ages 7-12) will receive an original design can mirror (randomly selected from three types).
