Manga creator Kouji Seo has announced via his X/Twitter account that his romantic comedy series The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses (Megami no Café Terrace) will continue with an irregular serialization schedule.

This announcement comes shortly after the manga’s regular run concluded.

The series had been a staple in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since its launch in February 2021.

Although the main serialization ended in November of last year, a brief mini chapter was published in December.

Fans can look forward to the release of the 22nd and final collected volume later this month.

The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses follows Hayato, a young man who inherits his grandmother’s seaside café and discovers it is home to five spirited young women who consider themselves family to the late owner.

The story focuses on Hayato’s efforts to keep the rundown business open despite the challenges of working with the five unruly women.

The popularity of the title led to a two-season anime adaptation.

The first season premiered in April 2023, followed by a second season that debuted in July 2024.

Both seasons were streamed by Crunchyroll for international viewers.

Seo is an acclaimed creator well known for his extensive history in the romantic comedy and slice-of-life genres.

He will also be launching a new manga titled Ano Shima no Umine-sō (Umine Boarding House on That Island) in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in mid-January.

The mangaka has penned several other successful series over the past two decades.

His previous work, Fuuka, ran in Weekly Shōnen Magazine for four years, resulting in 20 compiled volumes and an anime adaptation.

Before that, Seo released the 27-volume series Kimi no Iru Machi (A Town Where You Live), which also received a television anime and original video anime volumes.

One of his earlier major successes was the 18-volume series Suzuka, which first appeared in 2004 and inspired an anime the following year.

This track record solidifies his status as a key figure in the genre, making the continuation of The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses a welcome surprise for his readership.
