Japan’s top 10 Ferris wheels with spectacular views revealed in new tourist survey

A new survey has been released by a popular Japanese travel information site, which ranks the top ten Ferris wheels in the country for their spectacular views.
The Jalan News ranking highlights a wide variety of different scenic vistas that can be enjoyed from the comfort of a Ferris wheel gondola, from glittering city nightscapes and serene ocean views to the majestic sight of Mt. Fuji.

10. Hokkaido Greenland “Big Ferris Wheel” (Hokkaido)

The largest Ferris wheel in Hokkaido, this 85-meter-tall landmark offers an expansive, panoramic view of the vast Ishikari Plain and the majestic Ishikari River.
9. EXPOCITY “OSAKA WHEEL” (Osaka)

The tallest Ferris wheel in Japan, at a height of 123 meters, this attraction features all-glass-floor gondolas that give the feeling of floating in the air and offers a view of the famous Tower of the Sun in Osaka’s Expo ’70 Commemorative Park.
8. Fuji-Q Highland “Shining Flower” (Yamanashi)

This 50-meter-tall Ferris wheel offers a breathtaking, up-close view of the magnificent Mt. Fuji on clear days and features unique, cage-style gondolas.
7. Nagoya Port Sea Train Land “Big Ferris Wheel” (Aichi)

One of the largest in the Chubu region, this 85-meter-tall landmark offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the Port of Nagoya and Ise Bay.

From a height of 60 meters, this Ferris wheel provides an incredible view of two of Japan’s most famous sights Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay, as well as the city of Fuji.

This scenic spot offers a stunning, open view of the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea from a height of 65 meters.
4. Kasai Rinkai Park “Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel” (Tokyo)

The tallest Ferris wheel in the Kanto region, at a height of 117 meters, this attraction offers a view of Tokyo Bay and famous landmarks such as the Tokyo Skytree and the Rainbow Bridge.
3. Tenpozan Harbor Village “Tenpozan Giant Ferris Wheel” (Osaka)

A designated “Japan Night View Heritage” site for its incredible nighttime scenery, this 112.5-meter-tall wheel provides a view of Osaka Bay, Kansai International Airport, and the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge.
2. Kobe Harborland umie “Mosaic Big Ferris Wheel” (Hyogo)

This Ferris wheel offers a beautiful view of the iconic Kobe Port, including Meriken Park and the Port Tower, as well as the Rokko mountain range in the distance.
1. Yokohama Cosmo World “Cosmo Clock 21” (Kanagawa)

The number one spot in the ranking was awarded to this iconic Ferris wheel, a symbol of Yokohama’s Minato Mirai skyline.
Standing at a height of 112.5 meters, it offers a stunning, panoramic view of the city’s famous landmarks, including the Bay Bridge and the Red Brick Warehouse area.
The survey was conducted by the research firm INTAGE between the 11th and the 14th of July, with over 1,000 valid responses from people in their 20s to 50s from across all 47 of Japan’s prefectures.
