Japanese office workers reveal the anime character they’d most like to work with

A unique survey has been conducted in Japan, which asked office workers to name the anime and manga characters they would most want to have in their company to help improve teamwork.
The survey, conducted by the business matching site “Hikaku Biz,” ranked the characters based on their perceived leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

Here’s a countdown of the top five characters who were chosen as the best potential teammates!
5. Conan Edogawa (Detective Conan)

Valued for his intelligence and calm demeanor, Conan was praised for his ability to both lead and support a team to achieve its goals.
One respondent said, “He seems like someone who could come up with a lot of different ideas, and you could enjoy working together as a team to tackle your work.”
4. Doraemon (Doraemon)

The reliable, robotic cat from the future was a popular choice, with many respondents citing his “secret gadgets.”
One person said, “When you’re in trouble, he seems like he would help you out with his various tools.” He was also praised for his caring nature.
3. Son Goku (Dragon Ball)

Goku’s charisma, his infectious energy, and his overwhelming strength were all cited as reasons for his selection.
His ability to turn former enemies into allies was also highlighted, with one respondent praising his “humanity that makes allies out of former foes.”
2. Tanjiro Kamado (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba)

Tanjiro was highly rated for his empathy and his ability to be “attentive to those around him.”
One respondent said he is “kind and considerate to everyone without discrimination, and naturally brightens up his surroundings, drawing people to him.”
1. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)

The number one spot in the ranking was taken by the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Respondents praised his “bottomless optimism and ability to break through barriers,” and his ability to “build teamwork by skillfully combining jokes and passion.”

The survey was conducted between the 1st and the 2nd of August, 2025, with 358 valid responses from a range of company employees and executives.
