I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Light Novel Series Concludes with Thirtieth Volume

The long-running and popular light novel series, I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, authored by Kisetsu Morita, is officially heading toward its conclusion.
An announcement confirmed that the fantasy comedy will wrap up with its thirtieth volume, which is scheduled for release on June 15.

Readers can anticipate the release of the 29th volume, a penultimate installment, on January 15.
The novel volumes are published in print by SB Creative with illustrations provided by Benio.

Morita originally launched the story, also known as “Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita”, on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, a widely-used platform for user-generated content, in June 2016.
The series quickly established itself within the genre, earning critical acclaim and ranking at #9 in the 2019 edition of the prestigious “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!” guidebook.

The property expanded into other media, beginning with a manga adaptation illustrated by Yusuke Shiba that debuted on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website in June 2017.
Later, the novels inspired an anime television adaptation, which first premiered in April 2021.

Due to the series’ success, a second season premiered in April 2025. Streaming service Crunchyroll made the anime available to a global audience, simulcasting both seasons as they aired in Japan and later providing an English dub for the first season.
The series is an at-home comedy that follows an immortal witch named Azusa, who is reincarnated after dying from overwork in her past life.

Azusa dedicates herself to a quiet, relaxing existence for three centuries, only to inadvertently max out her level to 99 simply from the consistent killing of slimes to earn money for her household bills.
As word of the overwhelmingly powerful witch spreads, her peaceful life is upended by the arrival of curious adventurers, duelist dragons, and a monster girl who believes Azusa is her mother.

The story centers on the protagonist’s struggle to maintain her low-key life despite being the strongest person in the world.
Morita has also developed a related work, the spinoff novel titled “I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years” (“Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maō no Chikara de Daijin ni Sare Chaimashita”), which was published by Square Enix in September 2019 and has its own manga adaptation by Meishi Murakami.

Yen Press is the official English publisher for the franchise, releasing the main novel and manga series, the “I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years” novel and its manga adaptation, and the spinoff manga “The Red Dragon Academy for Girls”.
