Ironmouse raises over $1 million for charity as VTuber community rallies after VShojo exit

Ironmouse

In her first major fundraising event since becoming an independent creator, the VTuber Ironmouse has raised over $1 million for the Immune Deficiency Foundation.

The massively successful charity drive, which began with an initial goal of only $10,000, marks the beginning of a new chapter for the popular streamer, taking place in the immediate aftermath of her departure from the agency she co-founded, VShojo.

That exit was accompanied by Ironmouse’s public accusation that VShojo had failed to pay approximately $515,000 in funds from a previous charity subathon to the same foundation.

This new fundraising effort was a powerful statement of intent from the newly independent creator.

The stream, which began on the 21st of July, utilized the third-party fundraising platform Tiltify, which allows viewer donations to be sent directly to the designated charity, ensuring the funds would not need to pass through any intermediary agency.

VShojo has effectively lost all of its talent following the controversy that led to Ironmouse’s exit

The response from her community and the wider VTubing world was overwhelming, with the campaign hitting the $1 million mark by the afternoon of the 23rd of July.

The event was seen by many not only as a charity drive but as a massive display of support for Ironmouse as she navigates the start of her independent career amidst the ongoing controversy.

Ironmouse, who has been public about her own long-term battle with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), has been a long-time advocate for the Immune Deficiency Foundation, recently contributing an original song, “Carry On,” to the foundation’s documentary, “Compromised: Life without Immunity.”

The president and CEO of the Immune Deficiency Foundation, Jorey Berry, released a video statement thanking Ironmouse for her continued efforts.

The fundraiser saw significant contributions from numerous companies, fellow VTubers, and streamers.

Major donors included the video game publisher JAST, the energy drink company Gamer Supps, and fellow VTubers such as TaigaHolic, Trickywi, and Shylily.

Her close friend and collaborator, Connor “CDawgVA” Colquhoun, who himself raised over $1 million for the Immune Deficiency Foundation during a charity cyclethon in April, also donated $5,000 to the campaign.

For those interested, the amounts donated by companies and fellow VTubers and streamers are as follows:

  • JAST (video game publisher): $15,555.55
  • Dokibird (VTuber): $10,001.69
  • Tiltify (fundraising platform): $5,000
  • Gamer Supps (energy drink company): $15,000
  • Nyatasha Nyanners (VTuber): $9,001
  • Lonewolf7701 (streamer): $16,000
  • Connor “CDawgVA” Marc Colquhoun (streamer/voice actor): $5,000
  • Shylily (VTuber): $12,222.22
  • Zentreya (VTuber): $8,000
  • Mint Fantome (VTuber): $10,000.01
  • VGen (platform): $15,000

  • Apricot the Lich (Froot) (VTuber): $5,000
  • Nimi Nightmare (VTuber): $10,000

This successful charity drive stands in stark contrast to the ongoing crisis at her former company, VShojo, which has seen a mass exodus of its talent roster in the wake of the initial allegations.

If you’d like to offer your support, you can donate to the fundraiser whilst it’s still active over on Tiltify.
