HORI Reveals New Pokémon Red & Green Pixel Art Controllers and Cases for Nintendo Switch 2
HORI has revealed a new Pokémon Pixel Art collection for Nintendo Switch 2, combining retro Pokémon Red and Green visuals with controllers, carrying pouches, and game card storage.
Pokémon Red and Green launched in Japan in 1996 and marked the beginning of the wider Pokémon franchise, making the games’ colorful sprites immediately familiar to fans who grew up with its earliest adventures.
Rather than simply placing individual characters over each product, the collection creates complete pixel-art environments inspired by the routes, caves, forests and Pokémon Centers players encountered throughout the original games.
These new releases are the latest in a long-running series of Pokémon-themed accessory ranges from HORI, including ones inspired by Ditto, Eevee, and Ghost-type Pokémon such as Mimikyu and Gengar.
The Pixel Red design heads into rocky and volcanic areas filled with fiery orange accents, showing Charmander and its evolutions alongside Mew, Aerodactyl and other Pokémon watching the action unfold.
Pixel Green replaces the volcanic setting with forests and tall grass, surrounding Pokémon including Bulbasaur, Pikachu and Mew with leaves, flowers and a small Pokémon Center.
The Wired HORIPAD TURBO for Nintendo Switch 2 Pixel – Red/Green, priced at ¥5,480 each (approx. $34 USD / £25 GBP), combines the nostalgic artwork with turbo functionality, assignable controls, rear buttons, a dedicated C button and built-in headset audio controls.
The controller uses a detachable wired connection and does not include motion controls, vibration, amiibo support or the ability to wake the console from sleep, making it better suited to games that do not rely on those features.
The Shoulder Pouch for Nintendo Switch 2 Pixel – Red/Green, priced at ¥4,980 each (approx. $31 USD / £23 GBP), offers organized storage for the console, cables, accessories and six game cards, while its adjustable strap can be removed or tucked away when you would rather carry it by hand.
The Quilted Medium Pouch for Nintendo Switch 2 Pixel – Red/Green, also priced at ¥4,980 each (approx. $31 USD / £23 GBP), uses a soft padded exterior covered in route-like pixel patterns and includes internal sections for the system, accessories and six game cards.
The 24-Game Card Case for Nintendo Switch 2 Pixel – Red/Green, priced at ¥1,580 each (approx. $10 USD / £7 GBP), stores cartridges for both Nintendo Switch generations inside a compact case decorated like a miniature Pokémon environment.
Pre-orders for all four product types and both color variations are now open through the official HORI store and Amazon Japan.
The Pokémon Pixel Art Nintendo Switch 2 collection is currently scheduled for release on September 30, 2026.
