Honda creates real-life rideable legendary Pokémon motorcycle

The Pokémon Company and Honda have announced a collaborative project to create a functional, real-world recreation of Koraidon, one of the Legendary Pokémon featured in the “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet” games.
This project aims to translate the design of Koraidon into a real, and most importantly rideable, motorcycle.
Development has been underway for several months, with an emphasis on producing a motorcycle that is both functional and accurate to the game.

Koraidon, the mascot of the Scarlet version, is a Pokémon that transforms into a rideable “motorcycle” and helps the player travel between locations in the game.
The primary objective of this project is to replicate Koraidon’s in-game appearance as closely as possible, adhering to the official specifications for the Pokémon’s size and styling.

Dynamic features will be built in to the motorcycle, enabling the vehicle’s limbs and head to articulate in a manner consistent with their movements within the video game.
In 2023, Toyota, in partnership with The Pokémon Company, created a real-world recreation of Miraidon, Koraidon’s counterpart from the Violet version.

Unfortunately, the Miraidon recreation’s “Drive Mode” was simulated and its movement was limited to short-distances.

Honda’s Koraidon project aims to surpass this limitation by constructing a fully functional motorcycle.
The involvement of Honda, specifically the participation of members from its two-wheeled vehicle development team, is crucial to achieving this objective.
This collaboration leverages Honda’s extensive expertise in motorcycle engineering, a factor that distinguishes this project from the previous collaborative endeavor.

While the Honda Koraidon is not yet operational for riding, a static display of the vehicle will be presented at Honda’s Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Tokyo.

The exhibition will be held on March 7th from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on March 8th and 9th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
A promotional video that teases the project has also been released by Honda.
The official announcement clarifies that visitors cannot ride the Honda Koraidon at the upcoming exhibition, which may suggest that future public appearances of the Koraidon motorcycle could include rideable experiences.
