Hobonichi reveals huge new range of MOTHER holiday merchandise
Hobonichi is set to release a charming new collection of merchandise dedicated to Shigesato Itoi’s legendary RPG series, MOTHER (known internationally as EarthBound).
The “Hobonichi MOTHER Project,” which regularly releases high-quality goods based on the franchise, has announced a new lineup themed around “Okurimono” (Gifts), perfect for the holiday season.
MOTHER 2 (released as EarthBound on the SNES) is a cult classic role-playing game that subverted the swords-and-sorcery tropes of its time by featuring a modern-day setting, psychic children, and a quirky, poignant sense of humor that continues to resonate with fans decades later.
This new collection brings that unique world into the home through practical and decorative items, headlined by a series of floor rugs.
The standout piece is a rug depicting the map of “Onett,” the hometown of the protagonist Ness, allowing fans to step onto the streets where the adventure began.
Other interior items include rugs featuring the game’s iconic “SMAAAASH!!” critical hit text and the MOTHER 2 logo.
The apparel lineup features a collaboration with the vintage-style brand “WAREHOUSE,” offering high-quality sweatshirts in “Onett Red” and “SMAAAASH!!” designs.
For smaller accessories suitable for gifting, the collection includes silver earrings shaped like the friendly Mr. Saturn (Dosei-san) characters, as well as a compact mirror inspired by the Magypsies.

This release complements a strong week for classic RPG merchandise, joining the recently announced Dragon Quest Walk XL Slamichi Plush.
The “MOTHER’s Gift” collection launches on December 18, 2025, at the “TOBICHI Tokyo” physical store and the “MOTHER Shop” online.
Sales at “TOBICHI Kyoto” will begin next year on January 9, 2026.
TOBICHI Tokyo will distribute numbered entry tickets starting at 10:00 AM on the launch day to manage the expected crowds.
