Hatsune Miku Takes Over YouTube for Miku Day 2026

Crypton Future Media has announced a special collaboration with the massive video-sharing platform YouTube.
The exclusive Hatsune Miku Yoodle campaign features a temporary redesign of the website’s main logo for a limited time.

This surprise digital event is strictly limited to Monday, March 9, 2026.
Fans affectionately refer to this specific date as “Miku Day” due to a popular Japanese wordplay where the numbers three and nine can be read as “mi” and “ku”.

The date also serves as a clever pun for the English phrase “thank you,” when read alternatively as “san” and “kyu,” allowing fans to express their gratitude for the virtual artist.
This online collaboration joins other celebratory team ups for Miku’s special day, which includes an exclusive “Hatsune Miku Set” meal that is being sold at McDonald’s Japan for a limited time.

The special logo and accompanying animation were created by popular illustrator Omutatsu.
The artwork beautifully showcases how the vocal synthesizer software helps deliver songs created by independent artists to a global audience.

Clicking on the modified logo on the homepage directs users to a specially curated music playlist.
The top of this playlist features a brand new illustration gathering all the Piapro Characters together, including Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO.

As part of this massive celebration, a special program titled “MIKU TONIGHT!” has also been published on YouTube.
The virtual pop star herself serves as the host for this unique video presentation.
The show features guest appearances by prominent international creators PinocchioP, SAWTOWNE, and DECO*27.
Crypton Future Media CEO Hiroyuki Ito, known as the creator of Hatsune Miku, also makes an appearance in the video.

The content explores the history and future of the co-creation culture that has grown into a worldwide phenomenon.
Ito shared a comment on the official YouTube blog highlighting the crucial role the platform has played in supporting this creative movement.
YouTube serves as an essential ecosystem where Vocaloid creators and fans can interact, share their work, and generate revenue.
Hatsune Miku originally launched in 2007 as a revolutionary software allowing anyone to synthesize vocals by simply entering melodies and lyrics.

The character, known for her signature blue-green twin-tail hair, quickly gained explosive popularity on the internet.
She is now widely recognized as a virtual singer and frequently performs in incredible live concerts.

The Magical Mirai event series, which combines live performances with creative exhibitions, has attracted over 580,000 attendees since 2013.
The 2026 iteration of Magical Mirai is scheduled to take place across Osaka, Tokyo, and Hamamatsu.

The global Hatsune Miku Expo tour has also successfully completed 120 shows across 50 different cities.

After finishing its first Asian tour in November 2025, the series is preparing for upcoming tours in North America and Europe later in 2026.
