Hatsune Miku Becomes an Azure Dragon for Stunning New Chinese Mythology Inspired Scale Figure
Hatsune Miku is taking on the appearance of one of Chinese mythology’s most powerful celestial creatures for a spectacular new scale figure that places the virtual singer within a tranquil fantasy setting.
Kaiyodo has revealed the Hatsune Miku Qinglong Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure, transforming an illustration by popular artist Suan Lily into an elaborate statue standing approximately 27 cm tall including its display base.
Hatsune Miku originally debuted as a Vocaloid voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media in 2007, but has since grown into a global virtual performer whose adaptable appearance has inspired countless collaborations, figures, and interpretations from artists around the world.
The new figure draws directly from Suan Lily’s Qinglong-themed artwork, depicting Miku as an embodiment of the Azure Dragon descending upon the surface of a secluded mountain lake.
Kaiyodo has worked to preserve the delicate appearance of the original illustration throughout the sculpt, extending from Miku’s slender proportions and flowing twin-tails to the numerous accessories and ornamental details incorporated into her costume.
Her familiar teal hair transitions through a subtle gradient across the elaborate twin-tails, while the dragon horns and long curling tail use a deep pearlescent blue finish that changes in appearance as light moves across their surfaces.
Gold detailing adds contrast around the costume and accessories, reinforcing the more ornate fantasy appearance without overwhelming Miku’s familiar color palette.
The outfit itself takes the form of a high-slit black and white dress that follows Miku’s elongated silhouette, with the contrasting arrangement of the colors creating noticeably different appearances when the figure is viewed from the front or rear.
Much of the sculpt has also been arranged around a sense of movement, with the position of Miku’s legs, sweeping hair, and curling dragon tail making the character appear almost weightless rather than firmly planted on the display.
That effect continues into the specially created base, which recreates a gently rippling water surface beneath Miku’s feet to capture the moment of her arrival on the mountain lake depicted in the original artwork.
The “Hatsune Miku Qinglong Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure” is priced at ¥27,500 (approx. $175 USD / £130 GBP), with pre-orders opening exclusively through the Kaiyodo Online Store at 12:00 PM JST on August 17, 2026 and remaining available until 3:00 PM JST on October 16.
Kaiyodo currently expects the figure to be shipped in September 2027.
