Gachiakuta: Breakout RPG Confirms 2027 Release as Zanka Takes on Jabber in New Gameplay Trailer

Com2uS has officially named its upcoming Gachiakuta game “GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT,” while also confirming a 2027 release and showing a much closer look at the survival action RPG through new gameplay footage.

The announcements came during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, replacing the previous working title “GACHIAKUTA: The Game” with the name the project will carry into release.

Gachiakuta began as a manga by Kei Urana, with graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Andou, and has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2022.

Its story follows Rudo, an orphan who grows up in the slums beneath a wealthy floating city where unwanted objects and people considered criminals are thrown into a vast wasteland known as the Pit.

After being falsely accused of murder and cast into the Pit himself, Rudo discovers an ability to draw power from discarded objects and eventually joins the Cleaners, a group that fights the dangerous creatures known as Trash Beasts.

The manga’s combination of heavy graffiti influences, unconventional character designs, and a combat system built around treasured objects carried across into the Bones Film anime adaptation, which premiered in 2025 and has already been confirmed for a second season.

Com2uS first announced its game adaptation in December 2025, with the project initially carrying the temporary “GACHIAKUTA: The Game” name while the developer established how the anime’s world and characters would translate into a console and PC action RPG.

Several character-focused combat videos followed at AnimeJapan 2026, offering early looks at Rudo, Enjin, Riyo and Zanka, but the latest trailer provides a much broader view of the game in motion.

A major part of the new footage shows off Zanka’s confrontation with Jabber Wonger, one of the anime’s more unpredictable antagonists, allowing players to see how the pair’s close-range fighting styles have been adapted into the game’s fluid combat system.

Rudo, Enjin and Riyo also appear throughout the trailer, with combat centered around the individual weapons and abilities created from the characters’ Vital Instruments.

The game uses anime-style 3D rendering to retain the strong outlines, exaggerated movement, and graffiti-influenced appearance associated with Gachiakuta, with players being able to move freely through the Pit.

Combat is primarily melee-focused, with players entering polluted and restricted areas to fight Trash Beasts, outlaws, and larger enemies while completing missions.

Surviving those expeditions is only part of the overall structure, as experience and useful objects recovered from the Pit can be taken back to the Cleaners’ headquarters and used to develop characters or expand their available fighting styles.

Collected materials can also be used to customize and develop the Cleaners’ base, gradually unlocking additional features and creating a safer headquarters between missions.

Com2uS has confirmed that GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT will include real-time cooperative play, giving players the option to tackle parts of the game’s dangerous environments together.

Exploration will provide other reasons to look beyond the main objectives, including hidden graffiti scattered throughout the Pit for players to discover and collect.

GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT is scheduled for release sometime in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, although Com2uS hasn’t yet announced a specific launch date.
