Furby Becomes an Anime Girl as Kotobukiya Reveals BISHOUJO Furby Statue

Kotobukiya has officially announced that the next addition to its long-running BISHOUJO figure series is none other than the iconic electronic pet Furby.
The surprise reveal was made during Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles.

Originally introduced in 1998, Furby became a worldwide toy phenomenon thanks to its interactive sensors and its ability to communicate using its own fictional “Furbish” language, eventually selling millions of units around the globe and remaining a nostalgic favorite for multiple generations of fans.

Although Furby first debuted more than two decades ago, the electronic pet has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years through social media, with Hasbro continuing to support the brand for a new generation of fans.

Kotobukiya’s popular BISHOUJO line launched in 2009 and transforms characters from comics, movies, video games and pop culture into stylized 1/7 scale figures through the artwork of renowned illustrator Shunya Yamashita.

Over the years the series has expanded far beyond traditional anime characters, with previous releases inspired by franchises including My Little Pony, Transformers and even Sadako from Ring, making Furby one of the latest unexpected additions to the collection.

The newly announced Furby BISHOUJO figure is based on new art by Yamashita that reimagines the beloved electronic companion as a fashionable young woman, incorporating elements of the toy’s iconic design into her appearance.

The 22.5 cm tall statue features an outfit inspired by Furby’s appearance, complete with oversized sunglasses, a belt prominently displaying the Furby logo around her waist and a fluffy jacket that resembles fur.

The Furby inspired jacket also features a giant Furby face on the back, which matches the appearance of a small Furby figure that accompanies the main statue.

The figure’s sunglasses, which are fully removable, are designed to replicate the infrared sensor that is located between the eyes of a classic Furby.

Pre-orders for the Furby BISHOUJO figure are scheduled to open on July 6, 2026, via reputable hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan, with pricing yet to be confirmed.

Kotobukiya’s Furby BISHOUJO will begin shipping in February 2027.
