Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Attraction Opens at Universal Studios Japan
An exciting new attraction based on the hit fantasy anime franchise Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has opened at Universal Studios Japan.
The new “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Story Walk ~Journey of Remembrance~” is a time-limited attraction that allows guests to physically step into the world of the series.
Written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, the acclaimed manga series offers a fresh perspective on the traditional fantasy genre.
The series begins right after a party of heroes successfully defeats the Demon King and brings peace to the land.
It follows the exceptionally long-lived elven mage Frieren as she grapples with the fleeting lifespans of her former human comrades.
Her subsequent journey is filled with emotional introspection as she travels with new apprentices, Fern and Stark, to better understand humanity.
The anime adaptation quickly captured the hearts of viewers worldwide, with a highly anticipated second season currently broadcasting on Japan’s NTV network and worldwide via streaming platforms.
This new theme park experience serves as a major pillar of Universal Studios Japan’s “Universal Cool Japan 2026” special event.
It introduces a brand-new format for the park known as the “Universal Story Walk,” which provides an immersive walkthrough-style attraction.
Visitors will arrive in the magical city of Äußerst as travelers, encountering the elven mage and her young companions.
By uncovering a special spell within the grimoire library, guests will trigger a breathtaking visual journey through the party’s most cherished memories.
The experience utilizes massive screens, state-of-the-art projection mapping, and dynamic lighting to recreate unforgettable moments.
Fans can witness the awe-inspiring Era Meteors, fierce battles with powerful demons, and a beautiful field of blue-moon weed blooming around the statue of Himmel the Hero.
Participants have the opportunity to cast their own spells through special interactive elements scattered throughout the venue.
Highly detailed physical props, including Frieren’s iconic staff, are on display to further enhance the realism of the fantasy environment.
The “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Story Walk ~Journey of Remembrance~” walkthrough attraction is located inside Stage 18 at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.
The new attraction is scheduled to run from Saturday, May 30, 2026, until Monday, January 11, 2027.
