Starbucks opens 2,000th store in Japan in Tokyo’s Ginza district

Starbucks celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of its 2,000th store in Japan, located in Ginza, Tokyo.

Starbucks opened its first international location in Ginza nearly three decades ago, on August 2nd 1996, so it’s only fitting that the chains 2,000th store sees it return to its roots.

The new store, named “Starbucks Teavana Store Ginza Marronnier Street”, will be located in the first basement floor of the existing Ginza Marronnier Street branch.

Together, the three floors will collectively be known as “Starbucks Ginza House”, offering a unique and elevated coffee and tea experience.

The first and second floors will continue to house the Starbucks Reserve, featuring rare coffees sourced from around the world and the acclaimed Princi bakery, known for its authentic Milanese-style breads and pastries.

The new Teavana store will showcase a refined focus on tea, featuring a dedicated tea bar with a stone mill for grinding matcha fresh to order. This allows customers to fully appreciate the aroma and flavor of freshly ground green tea.

To commemorate this special occasion, “Starbucks Ginza House” will introduce five exclusive “Ginza” products:

Ginza Double Tall Caramel Macchiato

Priced at 884 yen (approx. $5.84 USD/£4.63 GBP) for takeout and 900 yen for dine-in, this customizable macchiato allows customers to select their preferred espresso beans, offering a personalized coffee experience.

Ginza Cornetti Boccone Matcha

This delicate pastry, priced at 530 yen (approx. $3.50 USD/£2.78 GBP) for takeout and 540 yen for dine-in, combines a buttery, flaky crust with a moist and bittersweet matcha cream filling.

Ginza Stone Ground Matcha Tea Latte

The new Ginza Stone Ground Matcha Tea Latte will be available hot or iced in a Tall size only, priced at 1,080 yen (approx. $7.13 USD/£5.66 GBP) for takeout and 1,100 yen for dine-in.

This classic beverage features freshly ground Uji matcha blended with milk and wasanbon sugar, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.

Ginza Stone Ground Matcha Frappuccino

This refreshing Frappuccino combines freshly ground Uji matcha with milk for a smooth and flavorful iced treat.

The frappucino will be available in a Tall size only, priced at 1,178 yen (approx. $7.78 USD/£6.17 GBP) for takeout and 1,200 yen for dine-in.

Ginza Stone Ground Matcha Mousse Tea & Strawberry

This limited-edition drink features layers of freshly ground Uji matcha, strawberry sauce, fresh cream, and white chocolate syrup, offering a unique and indulgent flavor experience.

Available in a Tall size only, the drink is priced at 1,453 for takeout (approx. $9.59 USD/£7.62 GBP) and 1,480 yen for dine-in.

With the store having only recently opened, if you’re planning on heading down to try the new drinks we’d recommend avoiding peak hours, as the opportunity to enjoy new drinks and sweets in a brand new store is likely to attract Starbucks fans from far and wide.
