Celebrate cherry blossom season with Starbucks Japan’s new sakura frappuccino

"Timeless Japanese Beauty" inspires Starbucks newest frappucchino

Starbucks Japan has unveiled its latest Sakura Frappuccino, the White Peach and Cherry Blossom Warabi Mochi Frappuccino.

This pink-hued creation shares the same “Timeless Japanese Beauty” theme that Starbucks new “SAKURA Daytime” drinkware collection is based on.

The drink’s appearance and aroma evoke the beauty of sakura (cherry blossoms), a symbol of renewal and the transient nature of life in Japan.

This year’s Sakura Frappuccino features a refreshing white peach flavor, blending a subtle sweetness with a bright, fruity essence.

The creamy base combines the sweetness of white peaches with a smooth white chocolate-flavored syrup.

The Frappuccino is crowned with a swirl of whipped cream and drizzled with a special sauce that combines the flavors of strawberry and cherry blossom.

The interplay of berry, peach, and sakura is designed to capture the delicate flavors of early spring, creating a taste that mirrors the season’s gentle arrival.

Intriguingly, the Frappuccino incorporates warabi mochi, a traditional Japanese confection made from bracken starch.

These chewy pieces of mochi reside in the bottom half of the drink and have been infused with aromatic cherry blossom flavors to give them a deep pink color.

Earlier this year, warabi mochi was a popular ingredient in the seasonal drinks that were available over the New Year period from a range of retailers including Gong Cha.

The warabi mochi adds a delightfully different texture to the Starbuck’s new creamy beverage.

The combination of sakura and peach flavors alongside the warabi mochi elevates the drink above the plain sakura flavored drinks typically offered by coffee shops this time of year.

This limited-time offering is only available in the Tall size and is priced at ¥687 (approx. $4.51 USD / £3.65 GBP) for takeout and ¥700 (approx. $4.60 USD / £3.72 GBP) for eat-in orders.
