7-Eleven Japan's 2025 new years lucky bag contents revealed

Fukubukuro, also known as “lucky bags” or “happy bags”, are a traditional Japanese New Year custom where merchants sell sealed bags of discounted items with unknown contents.

7-Eleven Japan have announced that they are bringing back their lucky bags for 2025, with this year’s edition offering exceptional value.

So, what’s in the 7-Eleven 2025 lucky bag? Let’s take a look at what those lucky enough to get their hands on one can expect:

The first item is a tote bag, which has been designed to look just like a 7-Eleven shopping bag making it the perfect item for those who want to avoid paying for a plastic bag each time they shop at 7-Eleven:

The second item in the 2025 7-Eleven Japan lucky bag is a silicon pouch that looks just like the 7-Eleven signboards seen outside most stores:

The second to last item is a quilt blanket that features the 7-Eleven logo, which has a flocked backing making it super warm and ideal for placing on your lap:

The final physical item is a ticket case style file that can be used to store tickets or receipts, which is based on the paper envelopes provided to hold tickets purchased at 7-Eleven via their Ticket Pia machines:

The 7-Eleven lucky bag also gives purchasers the chance to redeem 3,108 yen worth of electronic coupons, broken down as follows:

9 coupons for a 112 yen discount against 7-Cafe products
9 coupons for a 100 yen discount against 7-Eleven branded onigiri and sushi priced at 290 yen or less
6 coupons for a 100 yen discount against 7-Eleven branded original sweets
6 coupons for a 100 yen discount against 7-Eleven branded sandwiches and rolls

If you want to get your hands on the 7-Eleven Japan 2025 lucky bag you’ll need to reserve one online via the official reservation page.

The lucky bag will be priced at 3,630 yen (approx. $23.47 USD/£18.74 GBP) and reservations will be accepted from 14:00 on Monday, November 25th. With limited quantities available, you’ll need to be fast to secure your reservation.

Some 7-Eleven stores will accept in person reservations from the same date and time, but these are limited to the Hokkaido, Tohoku, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu areas (excluding stores in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture, Yazu County, and Okinawa Prefecture).

With discounts that almost equal the cost of the bag, those who visit 7-Eleven regularly and use all of their coupons will effectively be paying a small amount more to secure the 4 physical items in this years fukubukuro, making it great value for money.
