Pizza Hut Japan and Kit Kat combine to create chocolate and cheese concoction
Pizza Hut Japan are no strangers to odd menu items, and this new collaboration with Kit Kat may just take the biscuit…
In a collaboration said to have been made possible by the shared desire of both companies to support students studying hard every day for exams, a new menu item will come to Pizza Hut stores around Japan from the 14th of January.
The new Handy Melts x KitKat, or “Kitto Meccha Tokeru Handy Melts”, sandwiches the crispy texture and chocolate of KitKat wafers with Pizza Hut Japan’s dough and cheese to create a hand sized snack.
The logic behind the strange collaboration was explained by Pizza Hut Japan, who said:
We wanted to send pizza to students studying hard every day and to energize their brains after a full day of hard work, so we collaborated with KitKat, a popular talisman for exams.
We hope you will enjoy our “Handy Melts x KitKat” as a lucky item, which combines two delicious melting ingredients, cheese and chocolate.
KitKat also commented on the collaboration, stating:
This collaboration was made possible because there are many commonalities between the activities of “KitKat,” which has been working with various partners to support students struggling with anxiety and tension, and the brand philosophy of Pizza Hut, and because both are “meltable.”
We hope that “Handy Melts x KitKat” will support students working hard toward their dreams and goals.
Whilst it’s questionable as to whether this strange concoction will actually help students with their studies, many will likely take a break from to head down to Pizza Hut to try the new cheese and chocolate creation on offer.
The “Handy Melts x KitKat”/”Kitto Meccha Tokeru Handy Melts” will be available at Pizza Hut Japan stores nationwide from the 14th of January 2025 until the 9th of March 2025 and will be priced at 430 yen.
