New Evangelion x McDonald's figures launching in 2025

McDonald’s Japan will be launching its first ever collaboration campaign with the hugely popular anime series “Neon Genesis Evangelion”.

The Evangelion series is still incredibly popular in Japan and celebrates the 30th anniversary of its first broadcast in 2025 and McDonald’s are releasing three new transforming toys based on the series.

This set of three figures transforms popular McDonald’s products the Big Mac®, McFries®, and McShake®, into Evangelion Unit-01, Unit-02, and Unit- 00, respectively.

These three transforming robots have been dubbed Big Mac Unit-01, McFries Unit-02, and McShake Unit-00.

While many McDonald’s customers will be familiar with receiving toys likes these for free with a Happy Meal, these figures are only available to purchased as a special set.

The set will be sold in limited quantities at McDonald’s stores in Japan from 20th January 2025.

Due to high demand, applications will be accepted from 19th December 2024 for a pre-lottery for the “McDonald’s x Evangelion Value Set Figure” (set of three, 3,900 yen inc. tax (approx. $24.74 USD/£19.79 GBP)).

Customers will need to enter the pre-lottery on their smartphones via the official McDonald’s Japan app between 14:00 on Thursday, December 19, 2024 and 23:59 on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Winners can purchase the product at their designated McDonald’s store from the start of business on or after Monday, January 20, 2025 (5:00 for 24-hour stores) until the end of business on Sunday, January 26 (4:59 the following morning for 24-hour stores).

Each person can only enter the pre-lottery once, and only purchase one set of figures.

In addition, a new TV commercial introducing the first wave of these transforming figures will be aired on Tuesday, December 24th.

The commercial will tell the story of the collaboration between McDonald’s and Evangelion and features the original voice actors from the series!
