Japan’s Kirby Cafe reveals its new winter menu
With 3 locations across the country, the Kirby Cafe is one of the most visited themed cafes in Japan.
The popular cafe has announced a new line-up of savory and sweet treats that are set to join the menu this winter.
The new KIRBY CAFE WINTER 2024 menu will be available from the 13th November 2024 to March 4th 2025 at the Tokyo and Hakata branches of the cafe, whilst the Kirby Cafe in Osaka will run the new menu from the 15th January 2025 to the same end date.
Themed on milk and cheese, classic winter flavours in Japan intended to give a warm and cosy feel, the new menu is sure to be popular with guests who visit across the winter season.
The first new items on the menu are two adorable burgers based on Kirby and Waddle Dee, which come paired with “snow cheese pasta”.
Both characters are wearing scarfs to fit the winter theme, which only adds to the cuteness of the overall dish.
The burgers can be ordered to include a souvenir plate, or just as a meal only, with each option costing 3,388 yen (with plate) and 2,398 yen (meal only) respectively.
Next up on the KIRBY CAFE WINTER 2024 menu is “Chef Kawasaki’s Savory Chicken & Bacon with Cream Sauce“, a hearty winter dish of bread crumbed chicken paired with thick sliced bacon, orange and a cream sauce which is priced at 1,848 yen.
The final savory addition on the winter menu is “Waddle Dee’s Dreamy White Stew”, a dish that sees 3 cream croquette Waddle Dee’s enjoying a relaxing nap on a bed of rice, under a blanket of egg that is topped with white cream stew.
This dish can be ordered with a souvenir ceramic spoon, or as a meal only, for either 2,728 yen (with spoon) or 2,068 yen (without spoon).
The star of this years winter dessert lineup is the “Kirby’s Fluffy Snowman” which, as with other dishes on the menu, can be ordered with or without a souvenir plate for either 2,728 yen (plate included) or 1,848 yen (dessert only).
The “Kirby Snowman” is made of white bean paste that has been filled with fruit and cream. The snow at the bottom of the snowman is made of “gyuhi” – a “wagashi”, or Japanese sweet, that is similar to mochi, only softer.
Returning from previous years is the famous Kirby Car Cake, which has been turned into a winter version based on the “Winter Horns” stage of “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” and will set you back 2,178 yen.
The winter themed fun doesn’t just apply to food options, as two new designs will be joining the lineup of the Kirby Cafe’s “Art Collection Au Lait” drinks.
Available as Cafe Au Lait, Strawberry Au Lait, or a new winter exclusive Milky Au Lait, flavors, you can choose either a Kirby or Waddle Dee winter themed latte art to top your drink.
Both drinks can be purchased with a souvenir mug for 2,178 yen or as a drink only for 1,518 yen.
Reservations at the Kirby Cafe are recommended regardless of which branch you intend to visit, with demand over the holiday season expected to be higher than normal.
Bookings can be made for the next month on the 10th of the previous month (e.g. December bookings will open on the 10th of November) via the official website.
If you don’t manage to secure a booking for the date you require, make sure you check back frequently as cancellations are made available for re-booking as soon as they are received and can sometimes be secured for the same day.
