Harry Potter Butterbeer drinks are coming to one of Japan’s most popular coffee chains

Harry Potter fans will soon be able to enjoy Butterbeer drinks at Tully’s Coffee.
The Japanese coffee chain has announced a collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery to introduce a new frozen shake drink inspired by Butterbeer, the popular fictional drink from the “Harry Potter” franchise.
Butterbeer, a beverage first mentioned in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, the third book in the “Harry Potter” series, is described within the fictional universe as having flavors reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread.
It is depicted as a favorite drink among the characters, particularly when they visit The Three Broomsticks, a well-known pub in the wizarding village of Hogsmeade.

This collaboration marks the first instance of a major Japanese coffee chain offering a Butterbeer-inspired beverage on a nationwide scale.
Tully’s Coffee Japan aims to provide a convenient and accessible way for customers to experience the taste associated with Butterbeer and to collectively celebrate what they are terming “Butterbeer Season.”
The “Harry Potter Espresso Butterbeer Shake” is Tully’s interpretation of Butterbeer, incorporating the bitter notes of espresso into a caramel-flavored milkshake base.
The drink is topped with a thick, sweet whipped cream flavored to evoke the butterscotch notes of Butterbeer, resembling the characteristic foamy head of the fictional drink.
The “Harry Potter Espresso Butterbeer Shake” is described as having a smooth texture, a sweet aroma of butter and caramel, balanced by the moderate bitterness of espresso, resulting in a satisfying and layered flavor profile.

Tully’s Coffee Japan encourages customers to enjoy the drink directly from the cup rather than using a straw, evoking the memorable scenes from the “Harry Potter” films where the characters enjoy Butterbeer.
The new drink will be available at Tully’s Coffee stores across Japan starting from April 2nd.
